Sneak Peek – Liam Grange

Here is a quick peek into today’s Martial Arts photoshoot with Liam Grange.

Liam is a 5th Dan WTF Taekwondo exponent who has trained and taught Taekwondo in Korea. He also trains various other arts including Taiji, Praying Mantis and various forms of Silat. This shoot covered the Praying Mantis, Taekwondo and also some Silat Tari.

I am proud to call Liam my friend and training partner.. He is an awesome martial artist and is always willing to give and receive punches to the head with a smile on his face. Personally I can’t wait to get down and edit these images, but this one will have to sate your appetites for now as I have other commitments at the moment.

I’d love to hear your thoughts below..

Scot

PS those that follow my photography might recognise Liam from one of my portrait photos.. hint: there is blood running down his nose ;)

  • Ok so first thoughts…”I wouldn’t want to upset him” and then “Great shot Scot!”; login’ the angle; would really like to see this shot with nothing but sky/clouds as the background…but then that one may be coming as I know this is just a sneak peak.

Good on you mate, keep it coming!

    • Thank you Glyn.. We really had a great time shooting yesterday.

I was pretty worried as the weather was pretty shocking before the shoot. Sadly no open sky shots as my light source kept getting blown over (must get a VAL!). I used a large tree to block a lot of the wind and then weighed down the light stand with camera gear.

Some great shots to come tho ;)

      • Tent pegs & bungee cords make great alternatives to sandbags in ground like that. Get the lightweight aluminium tent pegs, and they make hardly any difference to the weight of your gear. :)

        • Great idea! and one that I’ve been thinking about since yesterday..

I was just thinking of tent pegs though.. as I can place them through the base of my lightstands

          Cheers

Cracking shot and a great one to tease with .. look forward to seeing the rest when you have time :)

  • Great shot Scot; he’s a high flyer!
    Cheers

Hey Scot. I just love this shot the way it is. I especially like the contrast of the calm background and the dynamic of the movement. I think it perfectly relays what martial arts is about
